Laboratory Storage and Handling of Lyophilized Peptides

Lyophilization removes water under controlled conditions to improve the handling and stability of certain laboratory materials. It does not make every peptide indefinitely stable or eliminate the need for product-specific controls.

Follow the product and lot record

Storage requirements may vary by sequence, modification, salt form, packaging, residual moisture, and study design. The product label, specification, lot-specific COA, safety information, and institutional procedure should take precedence over general internet advice.

Control the environment

• Maintain the labeled temperature range.
• Protect material from unnecessary light, moisture, and temperature cycling.
• Keep containers sealed until an approved laboratory workflow requires access.
• Record receipt, lot number, storage location, and relevant excursions.
• Use calibrated monitoring equipment where the protocol requires it.

Avoid repeated uncontrolled transitions

Repeated movement between storage environments can introduce condensation or thermal stress. Laboratories should define retrieval, equilibration, aliquoting, and return-to-storage procedures in a validated internal protocol.
